Questions for practicing PTs:
1. In what type of setting do you practice?
2. On average, how many patients do you see per day?
3. How does your clinic structure appointments? Do you book one patient every 30 minutes, every hour, etc.? Do you double or triple-book?
I've seen similar threads but would like to take more of a broad survey.
I will be entering PT school this coming fall. Due to exposure, when I visualize myself as a practicing PT, I gravitate toward the orthopedic setting (I know it's cliche).
I've been a tech for two outpatient orthopedic companies: one has 45 minute appointments with no overlap and never double-booked, while the second schedules every 30 minutes, often triple-books, occasionally double-books with an IE, and aims to keep every patient for at least an hour. I'm assuming these are two extremes, but the second experience is making me question whether I want to be involved in an outpatient, orthopedic PT setting. Practicing PT friends have said that other settings tend to still be number-oriented, but in a different way. Any PTs out there want to share their thoughts? Thanks!
