Any thoughts about major differences between these two programs?

Both are renowned for happy residents and well-funded departments. Casey definitely has a reputation edge but Stanford residents have matched exceptionally well for fellowships recently, perhaps even better than Casey residents. And with Stanford increasing to 4 residents, they are virtually the same size. Stanford does have a county, but Casey is known for seeing very large numbers of patients...

Both are renowned for happy residents ...

From what I know, this is not completely true. However, I won't say which program because it didn't happen to me and can't guarantee all of the details. Both programs enjoy good weather, though Stanford weather is better. I would not avoid going to either program

You don't need to guarantee the details, but it's still helpful to know more opinions, even if they are unverified and need to be taken with a grain of salt

The 6 or so Stanford residents I know LOVED their time there (they've all graduated now). I don't know anything about the OHSU residents other than I've HEARD they're all very happy, but none of this is first-hand

I realize this was as helpful as a submarine with a screen door...but just my 2 cents

I understand you may not want to ruffle feathers, but seeing as this is an Internet forum I think we all take everything posted with a grain of salt. That said, it could be very helpful to hear a clarification of this statement.

No, this is very helpful. Thanks!

It was Stanford. I talked with the somewhat recent graduate and got the story. One senior faculty member tried to (professionally speaking) cut that person's head off. The person was saved and told to stay away from that faculty member as much as possible. That faculty member is still there. Made me think twice about applying there. Having to stay away from a certain faculty member is not a good environment.

When med students interview at my program, I say I am happy. We are required to put on a show. We don't lie but it's bad form to be unpatriotic about your program. So gripes are unspoken. Our program is decent, don't get me wrong. Some programs that I interviewed at had residents that flatly lied about how great the place was.
