CASPER for Texas MD-PhDs

How does sending CASPER scores work when applying to Texas MD-PhD programs that go through AMCAS? When I try to enter the school name for sending the score (eg UT Southwestern, Houston, San Antonio, Baylor) it requires me to input my TMDSAS ID in addition to my AAMC ID in order to send the score. From what I saw online TMDSAS is required for MD-only but if I am solely applying to MD-PhD there then AMCAS is done in place of TMDSAS. Is that correct? If so, how do I enter the TMDSAS ID info in CASPER.

Talk to CASPer representatives. In prior cycles, applicants have been able to use both IDs (TMDSAS and AMCAS), or either of them. Then, you only distribute to the name of the medical schools. MD/PhD representatives have access to them. Every school/program have a different workflow...

Confirm with the Acuity Insights team, but the Texas schools' admissions teams should receive your Casper scores. It should be fine to use either ID; the schools' application management programs should be able to match your scores in their system with either number. I would presume the TMDSAS ID should be fine, even if you apply as an MSTP applicant. Whether the Texas schools prefer you put in your TMDSAS ID instead of your AMCAS ID, you'd have to ask the admissions teams.

If anyone else had this problem, I never filled out TMDSAS and just wrote my TMDSAS ID as 1111111, and all the Texas MSTP programs have considered me complete on their AMCAS secondaries

You need to understand that all MD/PhD programs have to abide by the LCME minimum requirements that apply to MD-only applicants for each accredited medical school. The MD/PhD programs can require more (i.e.: substantial research experiences, etc.), but not less. We look at the CASPer score but have relatively little use except at the lower bottom, because we will need to address it in the final round with the MD acceptance committee.
