Is is traditionally more difficult to get into the categorical or advanced spots at a program? I've noticed that many of the anesthesia programs offer both...Do applicants tend to favor one over the other?

anyone? 🙂

different answers from diff folks. but generally, i've found ppl desire categorical spots because you can stay at one place for FOUR YEARS (dont have to pack up and leave after just one).

having said that...those ppl that say do a prelim and advanced in teh same city, prolly wouldnt care and would actually LOVE to be in a different hospital after their PGY1.

but yes, GENERALLY i think categoricals are more coveted

I found it simply much easier, cheaper, and less stressfull to interview only for four year positions.

thanks for the replies! That's somewhat reassuring...due to couples match stuff, it would be much easier if my signif other could match into an advanced spot...
