Cauterization of scalp?

So I'm removing some pilar cyst and my senior tells me it's okay to cauterize the sclap. But I remember from my plastics rotation as a med student the craniofacial fellow told me not to cautrize the scalp because it would cause alopecia. I remember him pimping me
"what's the best way to stop bleeding of the scalp?"
Me "I don't know."
Him "Close it."

So what's the deal, cauterize the scalp or not?

The CF fellow was right -- I would only bovie a squirting vessel. Otherwise, you'll kill hair follicles and have a strip of alopecia around your scar.
