CBT Externships and Internships

Can anyone recommend any externships and internships in NYC? There seems to be an overwhelming number of psychodynamic/psychoanalytic opportunities, but a dearth of CBT training experiences.

If you have externed/interned at any of the CBT sites, hearing about your experience would be greatly appreciated. If you are not willing to discuss it on this thread, please PM with any information you are willing to share.

Where are you looking? Most hospitals in NYC use a CBT approach. I'm currently externing at a state psychiatric hospital and ALL the wards are CBT. My classmates are also having similar experiences at their externships. The NYSPA website may be helpful if you haven't found it yet:

I too feel like everywhere is predominantly psychodynamic, at least based on website descriptions.

Good CBT oriented adult sites are e.g. American Institute for Cognitive Therapy, and Center for Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy. I can't think of many places in hospitals... but then again I haven't looked into adult placements as I work with children.

Can anyone recommend any good child sites that are hospital-based and behavioral/CBT in orientation? I'm hoping to get some inpatient or day-treatment experience.

I've heard that Jersey Shore Medical Center, UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson, and Trinitas Hospital all have significant CBT emphasis. Also for child work you might look at Children's Specialized Hospital. These are all in NJ. I know less about NYC, but I know Montefiore is strong in both CBT and Psychodynamic.

I'm sure there are more. Your training will largely be defined by your supervisor's orientation so be sure to ask when you're on interviews.

You can get CBT training at Bellevue...? I always got the impression that they're pretty psychodynamic... I've been thinking of applying there but I'm not sure. I've heard that there are SOME CBT supervisors, but do they really offer training in these areas?

Thanks for your responses thus far. I have compiled a list, based on my own findings and your suggestions. Please see below. I think we should try and build this up, possibly obtaining information from previous externs. Just a thought.
