Hi guys! Anyways, I had planned on doing my local CC for two years then transferring. But(as you can probably tell from the title) my cc has changed into a four year state college. This school is much better than the school I had planned to transfer to time, location and price wise. However, I was wondering if it'd be better application wise if I still transferred.
I took summer courses at the college I had planned on going to and to be blunt, they seemed the same difficulty. So yeah, give me your advice; I think i kinda already know what I'm gonna do but second opinions from you guys seems like a good idea.

If you don't mind my asking, what are the schools?

When did the CC transition to a four year?

This. I've never heard of this before. I thought state community colleges and state universities were different systems.

They are supposed to be but a lot of CC in Florida are doing this and a lot of CC in California are allowing you to take your entire 4-year sequence at CC and your degree will read as being awarded by the state university.

Yeah this is weird, I've never heard of this before - I would get more informed advice about this one. Try calling some medical school admissions committees etc. and get their opinions on the matter. You don't want them to associate some sort of stigma on your school once they find out it was a CC during your first year or so.

Is there a seperate admissions process or do all of the students who were enrolled in the CC automatically get grandfathered into the 4 year?

I'm in CA and I've never heard of any schools doing this.

My school in Washington went from being Bellevue Community College to Bellevue College, BUT if you do a little digging you'll find that it's just a name change. Because of the poor economy the state isn't actually allowing the change to a four year, despite that they can give out one four year degree. It's a bit confusing, but from what I understand they are still a cc.

Could this be the same story with your school? Or something along those lines?

In NC you can take all of your classes at some cc's and you will receive a degree from what ever the school is. The cc's serve more as a satilite campus. You can't do all majors that way it's maily teaching, business and and liberal arts degrees.
