I am having a litttle dilema.
Since i am a non science major I have not really taken science classes (asside from bio and gen chem) at my university.

The rest of my science pre-reqs i have taken or will be taking (i need to finish orgo2 and phys2) at the community college.

So the problem is that asside from my bio professor from my university( whom i know personally) there is no professor other then the ones from CC who could write me a second science faculty LOR (i noticed some schools need two LORs from science professors).

Gen chem professors are out of question since they are not there anymore ....plus it would be kinda stupid to come up to a professor and say:
"hi i am so and so...i was in your class 3 years ago...by the way can you write me a LOR?"

Do you guys think it would be ok to have one LOR from a CC professor who knows me personally (since i am one of 20 ppl in the class rather then one of 300)?

And ofcourse i will still have a LOR from my bio professor and a DO i shadow (both know me very well).

I will greatly appreaciate any input😀

hallo???
anybody???
come on ppl...13 views and nothing...🙁

I think it will be ok as well. ESPECIALLY if they have a phD. I am planning on getting a letter from my previous CC just because I know the letter writer will write one hell of a reccommendation. (the best teacher i ever had).

Go 4 it

thank you guys.
I just always get confused when i talk to other ppl at my school.
Most of them look at me with strange look on their face because i have CC pre-reqs...and that means that i am a ****** "because anybody can get an A in CC"...LOL.
To be honest i have never learned so much at my university that i have in CC.

On the topic of LOR's how strict is PCOM on their pre-health advisor LOR. I know it says you can replace with a letter from your own academic advisor or the dean from your school. My academic advisor is also the pre-health advisor but I have never had a class with him and he feels i could get a stronger letter from a professor I have had. Do you think PCOM will be OK with this?

Same here, learned a lot more at a CC.

I don't think you will have a problem withinterviews, etc, with LOR from a CC. I have had 3 interviews, one on the way, and have been accepted to a school, and none of my science LORs are from a university, PHd prof. All are CC profs with a masters. I don't think it is their title that helps you, it is how well they know you and your desire/passion to be a doctor. Those letters will be much more effective than just some letter from a PHd b/c he has a title.

I too had a CC prof who is the BEST teacher I have ever had in my life and I would not trade him for a title.

Good luck with those LORs!

One of my LOR's was from a CC biology instructor with a PhD. So far 3 out of 3 interview invites, one acceptance, one pending.

I learned way more in most of my CC classes than in most of my university classes.

you guys rock!
thanks so much for responces.
I am all calmed down now seeing that there are ppl in same situtaion with interview invites and acceptances.
Can't wait till i finally start that whole process.

yeah LOL...i think i will be taking it in August.
I really want to be finished with all pre-reqs plus i just found out that EK is now in Chicago so i really want to take their class over the summer and then kill the beast.
I know i will be a little behind in the application process but i just figured i rather be a little late with a kicka$$ score then be early and having to take it over again.
I want to do it once and for all ...LOL
but i will visit the thread for recreational purposes once i am done with my finals.
Now back to orgo 😀

All my letters were from my recent CC professors though I went to a university 13 years ago. I knew my CC professors really well on a personal level so I know my letters were really really good. Two have a phd and the other a master's. I was waitlisted at one school and accepted at the other two.
