Hello all! I have an interview at CCOM and am staying downtown Chicago. Does anyone know the best way to get to CCOM (both time & cost effective methods)? Is it possible to take a train out to the suburbs? If so, how far is CCOM from the station? I am trying at all costs to avoid renting a car. Thanks for the advice!

you could take the train in, but then you would have to take a cab to the campus, unless you could work out a ride.

I think most people take the metra rail down here, so depends also on how far where your are staying is from union station also.

The train station to campus is about a 10 minute drive.

I would suggest renting a car, just because it would probably end up being less of a hassel.

As far as a drive, i would look at mapquest first, because i don't know what your are closest too.

If you do plan on taking the train, or driving in, plan on leaving wherever you are early, because traffic in chicago and the suburbs is murder after about 7:00

Ill tell you what, if your interview is on an exam day - M or W, I will pick you up from the Downers Grove station.

However, if you miss the train or the train is late or whatever, you are on your own because exams > than giving rides to people I don't know.

what date is your interview and what time?
If i am available i can give you a ride.
It is kinda hard to get to CCOM without a car.
Whatever you decide :luck: :luck: :luck:

get down at downers grove metra station and take a cab. Its not that far from the station, may be 3 -4 miles or so. Cab shouldn't cost that much either.

When I interviewed I stayed with a friend in downtown Chicago and took the Metra into Downers Grove. The BNSF morning express line was a quick 10 minutes out there and sure beats fighting morning traffic out of the city. There are cabs waiting at the DG station if you should need one. If Buckeye is willing to pick you up at the DG station, then your expense will be $3.90 each way. Be sure to check the schedule for the returning train, as they don't run as frequently in the afternoon. My interview was done at 1:15 and the next train didn't depart until 2:40ish, but this was a good opportunity to explore DG and grab a beer at the Irish pub in town. And don't freak out if you can't buy tickets at the station, you cna buy them on the train for the return trip (ticketing closes at 1pm or something like that)

dr.kicia and Buckeye(OH),

Wow!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am really touched by the offer. If I could take one of you up on that offer, I would be so grateful. I will even pay gas money!

My interview on Tuesday, January 16th.

I looked at the schedule at there is a train that departs Chicago (Union Sta) at 7:00 am that gets me to DG (Main) at 7:24 am. I am supposed to be at the Littlejohn Hall (Library) at 7:45am. Would this time frame work for either of you?

If this works for either of you, please PM and I can give you my contact information. Again, thank you!!!

At long last the interview I've been waiting for. I'm coming to CCOM on Monday, Feb 12. I guess that's an exam day for you all but hopefully I'll get the chance to meet some of you and pick your brains.

Anyone else interviewing that day?
