I need help answering the essay. I've searched the site but couldn't find anything that make them stand out from other DO schools. I need to answer: Why do you believe CCOM would provide you with the type of osteopathic medical education you are seeking? There has to be something other than being near Chicago. Any help from current CCOM students and those in the know would be greatly appreciated!

You could talk about CCOMs reputation and clinical opportunities in Chicago. In addition we have an excellent OMM department. If you look up Dr. Kappler you will find that he has been very influential in the OMM community. Overall, however, I would mention that you agree (if you really do) with the DO philosophy of medicine. If you have any experience with DOs, I would mention that also. In addition, relate any of your clinical experiences to your choice of becoming a physician and how it may have influenced you to attend CCOM. Check out our website at www.midwestern.edu to find out more about our school. Be yourself and you should be fine.

Thank you for your respond.

CCOM has a excellent academic reputation- after 1st year, you'll know what I mean!
You might mention the "extracurricular" activites like being able to volunteer at the Community Health Clinic (a free clinic in Chicago- CCOM students volunteer there in Thursday nights)- where you can get real clinical experience before your rotations start.
Clinical intructors (on our rotations) always have great comments about CCOM students; they say that overall, (CCOM students) are more knowledgeable and up to speed than their MD-student counterparts.
