CCOM vs TCOM

Hey guys. I am trying to figure out which school will give me the most opportunities to become a successful physican after medical school. Currently I am pending on a decision from ccom and tcom. I would like to consider research opportunities, residency placements, board exams, culture of the school, and even the cost of attendance. I am an oos for tCOM and live only a short drive from CCOM. Any advice would be helpful...considering I am in love with both of the schools. Thank you guys 🙂

why don't you wait until you have acceptances from both to make the decision. No sense in everyone convincing you one way and than you get rejected or waitlisted. So before you put the cart before the horse, update this thread when you actually have acceptances and are trying to decide.

I think a school decision should be personal. Just make a list of everything you like and dislike about the schools. IF you have questions about something contact the school. That's what I would do if I couldn't make a decision.

Personally, I am more successful and take advantage of any and all opportunities when I am in an environment that makes me happy.

CCOM is expensive to the point that I don't think I'd go there unless it was my only acceptance. Even as OOS, TCOM's cost of attendance is less than CCOM's tuition, isn't it?

TCOM also has a solid reputation. I've also enjoyed picking up and moving to a new part of the country, so I see that as an additional perk.

I agree with the above. CCOM is 50k, TCOM's is 20k for OOS. That's over 120k less tuition to pay... Not to mention TCOM students are embraced very well at all most all of the Texas ACGME Residencies.

TCOM without a doubt. It has a solid clinical reputation and their graduates have been very competitive in residencies. Their rotations are probably the best of any DO school. TCOM is a strong well-respected state med school.

Both are great schools. CCOM does have strong rotations and their graduates get into great residencies. I am not fully aware of TCOM's rotations, etc. but I do know the school has great board rates, great respect, etc. I think tuition is the only difference. You should probably go to TCOM unless you truly love CCOM

The cost of attendance makes this an easy choice. Besides that the two schools are probably pretty equivalent.

No school is worth an extra 30k a year unless you have family there or some specific reason not to leave an area.
