Hi, Everyone,
I am currently in the process of completing CCOM's secondary, and I am curious about some of the distinguishing qualities of their program. Obviously, this is in regard to the 500 word essay question that asks, essentially, "Why osteopathic medicine and CCOM?" I searched their website as well as SDN and didn't come across much specific information. I'd appreciate any help anybody here can offer. Here's what I managed to dig up:
*Well-established program: one of the first DO schools.
*Convenience of on-campus housing for students
*Short academic year (good if you enjoy fast-paced learning, like I do)
*Affiliation with Cook County Hospital (very busy ER; great training on treating traumas) and two osteopathic hospitals (which ones?) - can anyone confirm?
*Great match list - graduates go to good residencies
*Allows easy access to metropolitan and suburban life
Anything else? Thanks.
