I'm pretty sure I can do well on the first part of Step III since it is just like Step I and CK. I am however a bit confused about how to get at studying for the CCS component. I used Blueprints Computer-Based Case Simulation Review: USMLE Step 3, it seemed like a simple read with a few cases but with a good game plan on how to approach things. Then I took a peek at UWorld's CCS and it makes this book look like a joke. I'd like to take Step III very early residency and I'm just not quite sure how to manage the studying for the CCS component. Any suggestions? Also, is it true that the CCS part is about 25% or so of your Step III score ?

I would recommend doing the USMLE World CCS cases, and that's about it. I did about 33 of them for real (i.e., like on the actual test), read through anouther 8 or so and then never did the rest. Most people I know did the CCS cases. Some did all, some did only 10. Honestly, if you take it during the intern year, and get familiar the program, you'll be fine.

The most important thing in my mind is getting comfortable with the software. The UW software is basically the same, so doing some of those cases, getting used to entering orders, timing, managing the clock and so forth is key. Beyond that, if you've had some residency, the actual orders should not be tough.
