ok...so just finished step 3 today and here's the problem:

you know how when you begin a case there's a button that says "START CASE" and then there are buttons across the top, one of which is a "next" arrow? so, when i started a section, I pressed the next arrow accidentally (instead of pressing START CASE) and then I tried pressing the "previous" arrow, but then it just said "You have completed thsi block" and I never actually got to do the case. I did this for the 7th and the 9th cases!!!!

i told the proctor what happened and she said she'd file a report, which was less than comforting. she also said that usually if oyu dont answer a block it tells you "are you sure? you have not answered the questions." and i never got a screen like that, so she thinks I probably did them and didnt realize it. she maybe right, but i dunno.

what should i do? anybody have any advice? i might have suicidal ideation if they make me sit through that thing again!!!!

The exam tells you which case you are on as you go, as in "3 of 9", etc. I also think you would know if you did only 7 cases instead of 9. What time did you finish the exam? How long was it taking you to complete each block? You could estimate the total time you took to complete the CCS portion then figure out if you came up two cases short.

I wouldn't swaet if unless your score is likely to be very borderline. When I took Step 3 the computers crashed and I lost 2 or 3 of the cases. The NBME or whatever called me up to ask if I wanted to retake the test or just leave it as is. After they told me I passed, of course I just let it go. The woman told me that thecases contribute a very small part of you total grade.

If you seriously think this is an issue, send a certified letter to the board before you get your results back. Can't hurt, and that way it won't be perceived as "sour grapes" when your results do arrive.
