Hello,

As I understand the US applications, its the earlier the better. I've recently discovered osteopathic medicine and would very much like to apply...now. I know its very late...

I just want to know if I send in an application to schools that still have primaries open and accept international students, is there a chance?

My OMSAS cGPA for 3 years is 3.82 and my MCAT is a 11/8/11S.

Thanks!

The chances are there but you have to be honest with yourself and know that getting an interview after submitting your primary this late (I have no idea how long AACOMAS is taking anymore) will be difficult for anyone.

If you decide to apply, have all your secondary materials (see school specific threads, DO letter if required) ready to submit the same day they're available to you. Time is not your friend.

Also consider improving your application for next cycle and having things ready to go ASAP.

Thanks Everglide!

I think I will just save everything for next cycle. I just realize that my 4th year thesis is probably going to take over my life for the next months so I should focus on completing that.

Good plan, apply early next cycle and you should have no problem.

if u decided to apply this cycle, I would strongly recommend applying to newer schools and I think you still have a shot at other school as well. Because I felt as ppl start dropping their multiple acceptances, spots will open up. and quite frankly, I know a couple of people who got accepted when they submitted their application around this time last year.

I have a similar question/dilemma. When I applied to MD schools earlier this year, I didn't know much about the DO schools so I originally didn't apply to them. Over the past few months, the more I learned about the DO program, the more I saw things that I really liked, but I didn't apply thinking it was too late. Now, I realized that the primary deadlines are in March/April for some schools...of course I realize that applying this close to the deadlines is always a bad thing, but I suddenly feel like I should just give it a go and see what happens. I have around a 3.77 overall/3.7 science GPA with a 31Q MCAT. I'm wondering if I have any chance of getting in this cycle if I apply this late. I'm planning on submitting my primary this week, and having the secondary essays ready to go in a day or two. I know its a long shot, but I'm wondering if I have any reasonable chance at all. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
