I went to my first CE dinner earlier this week. An MD was (powerpoint) presenting to about 15 people, 14 of whom are pharmacists or pharmacy students. It was at a real fancy restaurant and in a small room with only 8 tables. You could pretty much hear what anyone was saying.

Now the good part...

A middle-aged male pharmacist in the audience had his cell phone ring. LOUD. He proceeded to carry on a conversation on the damn phone while the MD was presenting. 😱 He didn't get up from his seat or excuse himself despite others in the audience indicating how rude it was. The conversation must have been 3-5 minutes. It was in no way an emergency call. His phone even rang a second time during the presentation, but he only talked 1-2 minutes that time.

A-hole defined.

Yeah...but I had to answer the call...it was more important than the drug sponsored talk that MD got paid $2,000 for..which he really didn't write the presentation anyways...
