Why do we look at the tip of the tongue to see the central cyanosis?

it's most sensitive and accessible... also why jaundice will turn up there first, too.

as for specific mechanisms, it currently escapes my mind.

I am on pediatrics nursery right now and my attending pimped me w this question today and I was able to answer cuz u posted this question. Thanks!!

One of the specific mechanisms is that there is no pigment in the tongue that can hinder detection of the cyanosis or jaundice. At least that's what was told to me by a CCM doc.

who says we look at the tounge only to see central cyanosis . we can choose option for mucous membrane of lips and extremities . but the clear bluish discolouration is visible in the tongue . u cannot see it in the extremities of a black person . similarly u could not ask a beautiful lady to show her lips to u , she will slap at u . so its conventional to see the tongue to detect central cyanosis .

I CORRECT WRONG DIAGNOSIS 😍
