Today I was contacted by CMU and was told that I had been pulled off the alternate list and now have the opportunity to interview for an open position in the program. I was taken by surprise because earlier in the year when they told me I was on the alternate list for an interview, I thought surely the class would fill before they needed to do more interviews. Anyway, is there anyone on this site that interviewed at CMU and can tell me a little about how it goes. Also, does anyone have any idea what the chances are of being accepted to a program after being pulled off a waitlist just to get an interview?

Well Congrats UDPT.

I am apart of the CMU class of 2017. I was an early admit so I technically didn't interview, we had an early admit reception and it was very laid back. We toured the facility, met with students to ask questions as well as the faculty. I would expect the interview would be about the same, but I am not 100% sure. I believe that the committee just wants to meet you and make sure that you and the program fit. We have been getting emails as a class with information and it seems lately that a few have dropped off the email list. I think the reason is that they want to fill 60 seats (48 in Mount Pleasant and 12 in Houghton - Michigan Tech). They are adding a 12 seat location in Houghton and the classes will stream live from CMU to Michigan Tech. the only exception is this summer which is the anatomy portion. Anyway, I am not sure which location is still looking for spots, but they might be looking for 1-3 at last check of the email list. Good Luck! Feel free to ask me any questions and I'll try and answer them.

They said that the open spot was in Houghton. The students who attend the Houghton location have to stream the lectures? I didn't know that.
