Many people get arrested and later have the charges dropped. That can show up on a background check but here in the US we're all about "innocent until proven guilty" so a med school should not hold an arrest with dropped charges against you. You answered the questions asked honestly and I would not expect what turns up on background check to change anything with respect to your med school offers.

Totally agree.. and frankly I am seeing presumption of guilt becoming more and more pervasive in these situations -- perhaps not with respect to admissions, but say for employment, insurance, criminal trials etc. It's troubling.

Then again, there's also "innocent until admission of guilt on internet forum" (OP states they were "caught shoplifting"). I second that the OP might wish to use the confidential consultation service and delete their post.
