CA Applicant here, blessed to receive my first acceptance last week :]. I was wondering, does anyone happen to know if speeding at 10 mph + and 15 mph + is classified as a violation or a misdemeanor in CA? I am relatively certain 10 is just a violation, not sure about 15. If 15 was a misdemeanor what does that mean? Should I tell the school before submitting? I tried looking this info up, it was actually surprisingly hard to find.

TLDR
- Got accepted
- Will I get in trouble with 2 speeding tickets

1) they are speeding tickets and unlikely to cause any issue. Even if they were misdemeanors and you neglected to include them on application, the most that would possibly happen is the dean asking for a letter of explanation, which be just a few sentences. really dont worry.
2) just a very quick read of a california traffic defenders website would indicate that simple speeding is not a misdemeanor

O thank god. Haha alright. Still in that "is this real life?" state of mind.

Even if it gets flagged, it shouldn't be a problem because of the wide ambiguity with regard to how states define speeding tickets. Some states classify it as a very minor misdemeanor whereas other states have a separate traffic code. In NJ, I believe even DUIs are not misdemeanors but rather traffic violations.
