Hey there
I am currently a D2 student and was diagnosed with two disc herniations in my cervical region b.w c3 and c4 and c4 and c5. I got this from a car accident 2 years ago and the symptoms just got worse over time. I have started up physical therapy to see if it can help me in the next few months. I am feeling very depressed at the thought that I wont be able to have a career upon graduation and I have all theses loans. Basically I feel as if I have no hope. Are there dentists out there with cervical disk herniations that still manage to practice? Sometimes I feel like I should quit dental school before I really bury myself in loans, but then I dont know what else to do because I have invested so much time into this. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey.
Im very sorry for your situation.
I was wondering if you have considered other options such as surgery?

I can only imagine how painful that must be and after so much time and cost, if possible surgery would be a solution.
Also, seek for advise with your school faculty, they might have some helpful advise.
Hang in there! Best of luck!

I wouldn't quit but would plan for the end in mind. For example, if your school offers a dual degree program I would take care of that. There are still others jobs you can do with a DDS agree from education to working for the insurance company to working for some of these Ortho to your door companies like smile direct. Also, with a DDS degree even if you yourself can't practice doesn't stop you from leveraging your debt and opening a practice that you hire associates to work in.

Never give up my friend!
