What are my chances of getting into MD school? DO school?

I am a male resident of Kentucky. Biology and Spanish double major. Mentor students with disabilities. Published research. Played varsity tennis for four years at my university. Have ~75 shadowing hours.

Any suggestions on schools to apply to would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!!

I would say 0 chance for MD, but somewhat okay for DO. I'd work on raising that sGPA for sure, use DO grade replacement if necessary.

chances are solid for DO, especially being from kentucky. Here are some schools in your range: KYCOM, LMU, MUCOM, WVSOM, VCOM's, PCOM-Ga, ACOM, CUSOM, LUCOM, WCU, KCOM, KCUMB, LECOM-E, SOMA, and Touro-NV.

don't bother with MD.

Say I were to retake the MCAT... What score, with my current other stats, would I need to be considered competitive for Md?

Stick with DO. Your sGPA is pretty low for MD and even your cGPA is below average for MD. Unless you have really understated your ECs they seem rather skimpy.

My concern would b with that sgpa. Are you just submitting your primary now? Id say chances are lowish if that is the case. If you are set on applying this cycle then apply to the schools user3 suggested

35? Ur sgpa is just too low. Stick with DO and if u are cool with applying next cycle use grade replacement to boost that gpa.

The sGPA and the MCAT are simply too low for MD programs, even with a 35 MCAT. They can afford to ignore candidates like you. Even if you managed to snare an interview, they'll likely say "nice guy, but look at that sGPA!" and onto the wait-list you go.

Agree that you're fine for most DO programs.
