I want to see what you guys think about my chances to get into an allopathic school (considering applying to DO school)

I have a 3.68 overall GPA with a 3.61 science GPA.

My first MCAT was 11/7/11 (29 overall), my retake went terribly and I got my score yesterday 9/9/11 (29 overall yet again)
I am worried that my MCAT is weak.

I have one semester of neuroscience research and worked in an organic chemistry lab.
I have 70 hours of ER volunteer work and 50 hours of volunteer work with the red cross.
I went to a small private college and knew my professors (including the committee letter writer) on a very personal level so I believe I have strong LORs.

I applied to:
UCONN (CT resident)
Quinnipiac
Creighton
New York Medical College
Albany
Rosalind Franklin
Loyola Stritch
GW
Drexel
Loma Linda
Med College Wisconsin
U St. Louis
Tufts
BU
Brown

(I didn't know my second MCAT before applying to some of these so I know some are going to be a longshot)

What do you guys think my chances are?

Brown is a far reach. You could add Jefferson, Temple, Hofstra, Oakland Beaumont, Western Michigan. Think about applying to DO also. If you are not willing to consider DO this year, if you are not accepted to MD this year then definitely also apply DO next year.

You already know that your MCAT score will work against you, but also your ECs as described seem on the light side. I'd hope that through the application cycle you will aggressively work at beefing them up, letting schools know about your efforts through Secondaries, update letters where allowed, and interview conversations. If worse comes to worst and you end up reapplying, you'll have much more to bring to the table on the next round. Consider getting in some physician shadowing, leadership, and/or teaching, besides augmenting your active clinical experience and nonmedical community service.

I agree that Brown is a reach, and would add BU and Tufts to that list. Without dedicated service to the poor over a period of time, I think that Loyola, Loma Linda, and Creighton will be difficult as well.

Goro suggests

UCONN (CT resident)
Quinnipiac
Creighton
New York Medical College
Albany
Rosalind Franklin
Loyola Stritch
GW
Drexel
Loma Linda (have you read their list of don'ts)
Med College Wisconsin
SLU
Tufts
Wake Forest
TCMC
VCU
EVMS
Jefferson
Temple
Rush
Penn State
All other new MD schools, except Hofstra and Va Tech.

Hi, I am literally in the same exact situation as you. I was working so hard to push my score into the 30s so I feel your pain on the second 29.

I am a New York State resident and have applied to 13 allopathic schools so far, but may take some suggestions from the list above and add a few. I am also seriously considering DO schools.

Are you considering taking the MCAT a third time? I've thought about it....

Best of luck!

I don't think I am going to take the MCAT a third time. I feel like admissions committees will look down upon the multiple attempts (especially if I don't improve drastically). I agree about my ECs being on the weak side. I am scheduled to do some shadowing so I will definitely convey that in my secondaries.
