I have a pretty decent grade trend, so I don't think that would be the problem. My ECs are fairly extensive with leadership and work experience, as well as shadowing MDs and DOs. I am not thrilled with the MCAT score, but I'm trying to fret since I was dealing with a traumatic family drama the week before I took it, and I will be retaking in September. My subscores were 9-verbal, 9-biology, and 7-physical.

I have applied to a long list of schools. I am a Florida resident attending FSU and have applied for 10 DO schools and 8 MD. I applied before I got my MCAT scores, so I know MD might be a reach but I still want to try. These are the schools I sent primary apps for:
MD: FSU, UF, USF, FAU, UAB, USC, Med. College of GA, and Med. University of South Carolina
DO: LECOM-FL; NSU; VCOM-VA, SC, AL; PCOM-PA, GA; OU-HCOM; OSUCOM; CUSOM

Does anyone have any ideas on where to go from here? I want MD to be an option for me, but I definitely believe I still fit the DO profile. However, I still want to make sure I attend a decent DO school that has good COMLEX/USMLE pass scores and match rates.

Hope the best for you, I am in a similar boat, 3.74sGPA, 3.58cGPA and 25 mcat (6PS, 9VR, 10BS).
Also an FSU student, applied there and now trying to figure out what DO schools to target or should I just retake the damned thing.

I think USMD is out with that MCAT. Work hard to get that score up. With your GPA I'd say you'd have to hit a 30 on the head to be an average MD applicant.

The good COMLEX/USMLE pass rate is on you buddy, not the school. I'm at a DO school and had a class rank of 236 of 241. Got a 223 USMLE and 551 COMLEX, not the greatest, but probably not what you would expect from that class rank. I studied hard as I had some ground to make up on my own with no help from the school and managed to get near average USMLE and above average COMLEX. That had nothing to do with the school. I met a Harvard 3rd year a few months back that got a 220 on the USMLE and I managed to beat that and I'm at a DO school. Who do you think has the better track record of good scores, Harvard or KCUMB? Pretty obvious as Harvard gets the braniacs. What it comes down to is that its how hard you work on board prep that will determine your score, not the school.

However, if you do get into Harvard med, you would be an idiot not to go.

The retake is so late in the cycle that it probably won't influence MD. If you are dead set on MD you will likely have to apply again next year.

I'd say get your mind right, realize that if FSU is what you want then retake the damn thing! I would think you would need about a 29 to be an average candidate for FSU as your GPA looks a bit better than OPs. Don't get me wrong, I am at a DO school and my education is definitely adequate. You will have the tools you need to be a good physician, but there are hoops to jump through, some doors closed at places of high ranking and LOADS of people that think you're a optometrist, a physician extender or a 2nd tier doctor (mainly the general public) make no mistake. If I could do it over again, would I retake the MCAT to try and get into my state school? Yes. My score came from laziness, not hard work. Do I regret going to a DO school? No.
