Hey guys,

So I'm using Chad's free videos now, and they are good! My only problem is that some of the problems he covers rely heavily on using a calculator.

For example, in the Acid-Base Equilibrium chapter, one of the questions is "What is the pH of a 0.1 M solution of acetic acid? (Ka = 1.76 x 10^-5)"
In order to find the pH, we have to use an "ICE" chart, and it boils down to 1.76 x 10^-5 = x^2/0.1, which we find that x =o.oo13M, and when we take the -log of that using our calculator, we find the pH is 2.9.
My problem is, we're not going to use a calculator during the DAT. So is Chad just going over problems like these just to give us the gist of things? Or do I need more practice?

Also, since the organic chemistry section on his free videos site have not been restored yet, I'm gonna have to purchase a month subscription of his course saver videos. Though I don't know if I have enough time to review the general chemistry section on his course saver, is the questions on his course saver similar to what I just mentioned when it comes to gen chem and calculator use?

You Need to be able to do logs in your head. Takes practice and isn't hard.

Try going through some untimed practice problems and don't allow yourself to use a calculator. Tricky to pick up right away but after some trial and error you'll get the hang of it
