Hi all, I'd like some feedback on what I plan on writing for a secondary. This is the prompt: "Tell us about something you've accomplished or an obstacle you've overcome that has helped shape who you are." (2000 characters)
I interpreted this less as a specific scenario challenge essay and more of a formative experiences essay, so I was planning to write about my journey to completing a half marathon and how I've come to love running. Even though it's a rather mundane hobby, I needed to confront a lot of negative associations with running from the past, namely an unhealthy relationship with food and sports. This was a huge obstacle for me in high school as it culminated in a pretty severe eating disorder - I know people generally say to stay away from mental illness, but I haven't had any major issues with it in college. Ultimately I realized that if you allow prior associations and beliefs to take hold without revisiting them or directly confronting them, you risk missing out on opportunities and preventing yourself from growing.
I can't tell if I'm totally missing the goal of the prompt. I also chose running to show my personal hobbies outside academics.
