Time to put up or shut up. Anyone who proposes a looming shortage in pathologists should arrange for dissemination of their extra load. I only see pathologists fighting for specimens. If these academics are truly concerned for healthcare of their patients let their true colors show and divvy up your specimens! Otherwise shut your mouths there is not enough work!!! I am sick and tired of losing my work to corporate pathology and their crooked schemes!

Yes, because the CAP depends on anonymous internet forum (non-CAP) for its positions. I have no association with the CAP nor do I have any great love for it, but they owe anonymous internet forum ranters nothing. Especially those who base their arguments on anecdotes and inflammatory rhetoric.

If your argument is that convincing, get a petition together, or make a coherent argument and contact the CAP directly. They are pretty open and easy to find. If you are hoping that ranting anonymously without anything other than anecdotes is going to spur someone ELSE to do all your work for you, then I think you will be waiting a very long time.

People are desperate for specimens all over. It's hardly anecdotal. If CAP fails to prevent those cuts next year, it will get even worse.

I wish they would quit screwing us over on proficiency testing. They need to lower the costs. It's not like reimbursement is going up so why shouldn't their crappy PT go down in price? I wish I had an inspection coming up so I could get a nice hotel, food etc all at their expense.

Ha! My lab wound up inspecting in the middle of nowhere. One of my meals was from pizza hut. I was actually embarassed to submit that for reimbursement.
