Don't go BS/MD. You'll end up locking yourself in in a way you don't have to.

From what I have read, BS/MD are not a good way to go. The requirements are ridiculous compared to what a normal applicant may encounter. Also, you don't wanna limit yourself to one school with this kind of program. You may get into a research lab in undergrad and find out that a different medical school is working on the same exact thing. Also, you may score high enough to get into a better medical school later on. I wouldn't limit myself right out of high school.

Jesus. That's some impressive stuff. I wish I could be this talented and not so lazy! I'm not doing so hot right now in Junior Year in HS..

Most BS/MD programs have acceptance averages around 3.95+ GPA, 35 ACT/1550+ SAT.

I work directly with the commission of the BS/MD program at my university and these are the averages for the 3 programs in our state.

Look into Pitt, Brown, and BU

If you go to a bsmd program that doesnt force you to commit to their medical school then its honestly a good bet because you can just apply out and keep the other school as a back up. That said, people get lazy and most of the people that i know in bsmd programs who came in as gung ho im going to apply out and go to harvard didnt even take the mcat so theres that.

I would have guessed you were either Asian or Indian, you didn't have to include it. 🙂😉:claps:

Hey! So, am I correct in thinking you are a junior? I have applied to bs/md programs this year! Our stats look pretty similar, with slight discrepancies in gpa- is that your weighted or unweighted gpa?- and which activities we devoted our time to. Well...... I hope we have pretty good chances. You can never know until you apply, truly.

I would recommend you try to get involved in some kind of research if you really want to boost your application, even if it is just volunteering for a small lab somewhere that no one has heard of. It's good to have some experience in the area even if it is only slight, and then you can add it to your resume.

You named some good programs, but I also would recommend you look at Baylor2, Rice/Baylor, Washington University at St. Louis, Case Western Reserve University and University of Alabama at Birmingham has a nice program as well.

Lastly, a note about your stats.... you said you haven't taken the PSAT yet? When are you planning on taking it? If you are a junior, didn't they take that back in October? If you can still get into the program, that is great! Do your best and study really hard for it. If you become even just a semifinalist, a lot of scholarships could be automatically given to you. It really is worth your time. Best of luck to you! And if you happen to be named a semifinalist next fall, message me! I just finished the finalist application and I would be willing to help you out. 🙂 It is good that you are looking at this stuff now.

Also, grapp can tell you that getting your EMT certification and gaining clinical hours that way is really good too!

However, you have to be 18 in order to take the NREMT and be able to work as an EMT in the United States.. Because, we were talking about BS-MD programs right?

In most places, you have to be 18. However, where I live, you don't. I'm certainly not 18 yet.

I worked as a volunteer EMT in high school under the age of 18. I think there was a state level EMT exam you were allowed to take; our squad required 18yo + certain amount of experience to become a crew chief though
