MD & DO Chance me for TX MD and OOS DO

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From the Republic of Texas thread, here are the TX schools averages:

LizzyM scores for matriculated students are:

1) Baylor - 73.4 (3.84, 35)
2) UT Southwestern - 72.4 (3.85, 33.9)
3) UT Houston - 69.3 (3.76, 31.7)
4) UT San Antonio - 69.1 (3.73, 31.8)
5) UTMB - 67.7 (3.87, 29)
6) TTU Lubbock - 67.5 (3.65, 31)
7) Texas A&M - 66.7 (3.66, 30.1)
8) TTU El Paso - 64.8 (3.6, 28.8)
9) TCOM - 64 (3.60, 28)

Your LizzyM is slightly below but I think you'll have some success if you apply very early. I had similar stats as you, and applied to the TMDSAS schools + a few OOS DO schools (including NSU), and (fortunately) had a great deal of success. I applied in May though, when TMDSAS opens.

I think ECs are fine. Also consider next door Tulane, and a few other MD schools like the Philly triplets, Wake, Rosy franklin, etc.

  • What are my weak points? Should I bulk up ECs or are they good?
You're in striking distance for all the other TX schools, including TCOM. I think you're fine for all other DO schools as well.
  • Is my MCAT going to be a big hindrance in Texas, besides Baylor and UTSW
  • What Texas schools and DO schools should I target? Really want NSU/LECOM-B for FL.

Thank you! Would love input from the great @Goro and @gyngyn 😀[/QUOTE]

Thanks! I also have a very strong upward trend. 1st year from a 2.0 to next 6 semesters of 4.0

Would you say I'm a strong candidate for either Texas or DO? I feel I'm just below average for TX and good for DO.
TX is its own special situation, but I have seen them love those gpa's.
I would say a fair to good TX candidate and very good DO.
