Hi guys,

I'm a UCLA graduate and I have a 3.67 GPA with a MCAT 29P. My break down was PS:10 VL:9 BS:10 P. I have leadership, extensive teaching experiences and 6 monthes of research. I also have a volunteering. Please chance me because I am debating on whether or not I should retake my MCAT, and if I were, I would take the test in late August or early September.

Please let me know if it's good to apply now without the MCAT score or to take it and risk putting my application very far behind in the cycle. I'm not certain how far my score will go up though...

Anyway, please let me know what you guys think. Any feedback is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

We have very similar stats, though I had a bit lower GPA, and I got in this cycle. It's possible *if* you apply early (i.e. June/July) and broadly. I took a few years off and did a lot of research, leadership, and community service combined with strong LORs so I feel those ECs certainly made up for what I was lacking in my stats.

Again, it's possible! Worth applying if your ECs are unique/interesting and LORs are strong (and your PS). Otherwise, feel free to retake it if you can ensure you'll get a better score. Just FYI, your score (though sub-30) is well-balanced, so it's not too big of an issue in my opinion.

Some thoughts on where to apply with your stats: Creighton, Rosalind Franklin, VCU, Drexel, Penn State.

Penn State really? Isn't that ridiculously out of my reach? If it's not too much to ask, how many schools did you apply to, receive interviews for, and get accepted to?

I know it's personal and you don't have to share, but I feel like I need a motivational story right now. I have a lot of pressure on me from other people and I want to know that I can still make it.

OMG, I forgot to offer my congratulations.

CONGRATULATIONS on getting in! It must feel amazing to know you're going somewhere!

Thanks for the congrats. No worries. Applied to ~28 schools & 4 interviews. One acceptance and waiting on the other 3 (one of which is my dream school).

No, I don't think Penn State is necessarily out of your reach. Their average is around 29-30 MCAT (http://med.psu.edu/web/md/admissions/overview/profile).

BTW, it's always good to apply to some reach schools either way...I mean, you never know who may pick up your app and say "I want him/her".
