Hi all,

I took the DAT recently and have been contemplating on whether or not I should go ahead and apply this cycle or retake it in the winter.

PAT: 17
QR: 19
RC: 22
BIO: 15
GC: 15
OC: 17

TC: 16
AA: 18

oGPA: 3.3
sGPA: 3.2

I realize that I'm not the strongest candidate (especially with bio and chem) but I do have very good letters of recommendation as well as >100 hours of shadowing and volunteer work as well as two leadership positions on campus.
Any and all advice would be appreciated!

Some schools have cutoffs of 16 and 17... You're gonna have to retake the test.

Retake. Your stats unfortunately look lower then the average both gpa and DAT wise. Focus on next year.

Unfortunately, I think you'll have to retake. A TS of 16 is below the national average of 18, and the 15s in Bio and GC will raise eyebrows.

What study materials did you use?

Hey OP, are you feeling Lucky??

If so, apply to your top 5 school.

But don't expect an interview.

BUT DO RESCHEDULE A DAT TEST DATE.

Sorry but you definitely need to retake. If you apply this cycle all youll be greeted by will be utter silence. Bright side: your GPAs are both above the cutoff score for all schools (some have it at 3.0 and others at 3.2). Fortunately it is much easier to increase your DAT score than it is your GPA. My DAT was low as well and, with hard work (which isnt as hard as it sounds if youre dedicated to this path in life), I improved on my retake.

Some quick advice you may find useful: -if you could, clear your schedule so you could devote all your time to studying, that means take no classes or just 1 or 2 in the fall semester.
-after you take the DAT during the winter break, load up on science courses in spring and try to boost your GPAs as much as you could, every little boost helps.

Good luck! I know you can do this, your RC is 22 so you do have the ability. You just need to put the time/effort into doing better next time.

Your DAT scores do not compensate for those GPA numbers so a retake is the only way to get in.

I used Chad's Videos, Qvault, and Destroyer.

Thanks all! My parents are adamant about applying to my state schools so I think I will submit the app this cycle with no expectations of hearing back but I will definitely be retaking this winter.
