  1. Pre-Dental
I am applying to dental school this year after being rejected las cycle. My overall GPA is 3.14 with a BCP of 3.06. My first semester of graduate classes, I received a 3.75 and will be enrolling at Barry Universities SMP program starting this fall. I have extensive EC with 3 years experience as a Dental Assistant along with shadowing hours in all areas of dentistry, volunteering, mission trip etc.

I just took the DAT for the 3rd time and don't really know how to feel about my scores. The last time I took the test I was able to achieve the following scores,

PA 22
QR 15
RC 23
Bio 17
GC 20
OC 18
TS 18
AA 19

I took the DAT on July 3rd for the third time and achieved the following scores,

PA 19
QR 16
RC 21
Bio 19
GC 19
OC 19
TS 19
AA 19

My science scores are more evened out, but I don't know if they are good enough to get accepted. What do you guys think about these scores?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

That's tough. QR is supposed to be the least important section, but 16 is really stretching it, and as the third time you took the test, there isn't much improvement, and even a drop for RC and GC. Did you not have time to effectively study for the DAT? I think you do have good volunteering experiences going for you though.

If your ECs and post-grad GPA are good, you might have a shot...... I agree with flossfloss about the fact that your DAT scores didn't really improve much after re-take. You should really prepared yourself we'll before retaking the dat. Good luck!

I honestly felt prepared for this test. QR was the only section that I was having trouble with. I am very disappointed in my PA score as I was scoring ~22 during my practice exams. To my surprise, GC and OC were close to 90% conceptual questions. Prob had 3 reactions in all of OC. Overall, I'm very disappointed because I was very confident going into the test and had spent over 2 months preparing for it. I just don't know what to do!

How are you studying for the DAT?

Two months is more time than needed for DAT, so either you weren't cut out for DAT or you didn't study correctly.. I think you should check out the DAT section and try to see how you can be studying. If you didn't do Chad's then you had a false sense of security. If you did Chad's then you might have just listened and not taken notes and reviewed it over and over?
