So I plan on applying for a hopeful 2010 matriculation. I've got about three months to get my application together, and I'm looking for suggestions. Here's a brief profile:

cGPA: 3.60
sGPA: 3.58
MCAT: 10, 7, 11, a composite of 28
Residence: CA

I graduated in '08 from a UC and am now taking two years off. I've done lots of research, I was even published as a first author in my undergrad's journal. I've spent 150+ hours volunteering in various departments at various local hospitals. I've been working in the ED for the past five for six months as well. I've done lots and lots of shadowing. I've got other activities/hobbies that I will include on my application: photography, graphic design, basketball, etc. I've yet to come up with a complete list of 15 activities, but I'm working on it.

I need help coming up with a list of schools where I stand a chance. These are the schools that I have at this point:

Albany
Drexel
EVMS
Jefferson
LLU
MCW
NYMC
Penn State
RFU
VCU
Western/COMP (DO)

Any schools I should add or remove? What do you guys think? Any advice, suggestion, guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your application looks pretty good... your ECs look solid, you GPA is average, but your MCAT might be a little low. If you have to money and the time to study for it... I think you could improve your chances at the schools you have listed and have a good chance at many others if you could get your MCAT > 30.

Other schools to consider though:
Utah
Michigan State
Tulane
Toledo
Rush

Check out the School Selection Worksheet...you will see how much of a difference a 30 on the MCAT would make for you!

Good luck!

Application looks pretty good; however that 7 might hurt you. If you can retake the MCAT and score higher it would def help you out. I would just add some UCs bc you might get a secondary and if you don't most of them you can appeal to get one. You never know what might happen and you might get an interview too? Your list of school looks pretty good. One of my friends had a 7 on VR and received secondaries from ucsd and uc davis. Good luck!
