I'm currently a Junior at UC Davis, though I transferred from a CC. I'll probably take an extra year to finish my BS in Psychology (Bio) or relax, so I'll be applying next year.

cGPA: 3.74
sGPA: 3.82
MCAT: 33R

ECs:
- 2 years volunteer at one hospital in two separate departments = ~400 hours
- 1 year volunteer at another hospital = ~50 hours
- 2 years tutoring = ~100hours
- 2 years non-clinical volunteer at a Food Bank, team leader = ~120 hours
- Honors, Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors Society at CC
- EMT-B license
- research = ~100 hours
- 2 summers of full-time job = 40 hrs/wk
- physician shadowing = ~110 hours with several different doctors and fields of medicine
- in several clubs and organizations, with "leadership" positions in some of them

What I plan to do next year:
- research abroad for a quarter or more
- continue with all of my volunteering
- another full-time job this summer

I think I may need more research and leadership roles, but I'd rather focus on volunteering.

So, what are my chances, especially with the California med schools? Where else should I apply?

Looks like you have a lot going for you. Did you do anything with your EMT certificate?

I think the only thing you need more of is the research. I can't be encouraging that you'll get into a California school, but you have a good chance of getting in somewhere. As you generate your list, I suggest you include UIllinois and Rosalind Franklin, both of which love Californians.
