Hi,

I am an Asian American at a top 15 university. I have a 3.5 GPA with a 3.3 BCPM. I just got my MCAT scores back today and after taking it twice, my highest score is a 29 (11/9/9). Is there any chances that I can get into ANY med school and how should I approach my life moving forward? I'm really disappointed and confused on what I should do next. It's kind of discouraging b/c I feel like I work really hard yet no results. I have the necessary EC's and Letters of Rec. I'm only concerned about my two stats above. Thanks for any help possible.

I'm from Alabama? I hope that helps.

Also I'm on the fence about whether to do SMP or go D.O. My dreams has always been to been an M.D

If your dream is to be MD, then go after it. I'm assuming you're still in school so you are young and have a lot of time ahead of you.

Take a year or two off, get a 4.0 at a SMP, retake the MCAT after REALLY studying hard for it and making sure your practice test averages are 32+ (or w/e the new MCAT's 32 will be). In the meantime, you should definitely get more clinical experience and volunteer while you are studying for the MCAT and I wouldn't really recommend doing anything else while at a SMP since those programs tend to be quite rigorous.

I'm also Asian American and I immigrated here in high school. I'm not sure if you're in a similar situation but your verbal score of 9 is not bad. If you attend a top 15 school, I feel you definitely should do better than a 11 and 9 on the sciences. Figure out what your weaknesses are in the sciences and cover every possible topic perfectly.

You're still young and taking some time off after college to strengthen your application will help you a lot. Good luck!

Apply to your in-state MD schools and other DO schools. You should be more specific with what ECs you have as well.
