Hi guys! I'm currently in the process of applications and is super stressed over my stats :/ Please let me know if my stats are good enough, especially for Texas dental schools. If y'all can, please also help me select which non-Texas schools to apply to 🙂 thanks!!! I'm planning to submit TMDSAS app late may and the ADEA AADSAS primaries in June.
oh and btw, TMDSAS classified me Texas resident on the app
overall GPA: 3.5
science GPA: 3.37 (may be subjected to be .1-.2 lower because TMDSAS supposedly changed their guidelines for calculating science GPA so that only chem-bio-math-physics counts towards the science GPA)
yeah I know my stats are low 🙁 I attended a top 17 private university in the US and the hard classes there definitely screwed me over 🙁
DAT AA: 23
QR: 30
PAT: 21
RC: 21
BIO: 19
OC: 22
GC: 22
I've shadowed 140ish hrs, done research for 2 years and is still doing it (300 hrs in non-dental research my soph yr and 350 hrs in dental research at a local dental school my junior yr - present) , volunteered at a dental organization and various other dental events, and held some leadership positions.
I'm thinking about applying to UCSF, Pittsburg, UNLV, Kentucky in addition to the 3 Texas schools......
Hey! I picked those schools because friends I knew from my school with stats similar to mine received interviews and acceptances to most of those schools. I'm not sure about UCSF actually but the 2015 ADEA guide said that they do accept some out of state people and UCSF accepted my friend who's an international last year (although he did have really amazing stats...)My GPA and DAT scores are in the same ballpark as yours! Hopefully we both get in somewhere 🙂 (my friend who got into UTHSCSA said he thought my stats were good for an interview for at least 2 of the TX dental schools, so that's a good sign for both of us!) Just out of curiosity, why did you pick those OOS schools? I'm having a hard time deciding where to apply out of Texas and was also looking at UCSF, but I didn't think they accepted many non-California residents.
