So I interviewed at IUSOM (Indiana Univ. school of med.) as an in state applicant back in January 2006. I took the MCAT back in 2000 thinking at the time I might apply to med school later - but wanted to see if a career in research was what I wanted (PS: I scored low 20's (M) on the MCAT). I went on to get MS degree in molecular biology at Purdue (undergrad was at U of Michigan at Flint campus). Now fast forward 6 years to the present and...

So here is my question: They interviewed me based on my 6-year old MCAT score...and I have authored (as 1st author) 2 journal articles in breast cancer research in a journal with a decent impact factor score plus worked as a research scientist for 1 year in Indy. What do you guys think my chances of acceptance are? I have a 3.3 cum gpa too, included in that is a 3.90 combined post bacc and MS degree gpa. Not much clinical experience either.

PS: IUSOM claims they want to be a top 10 research school by 2010! Does this affect my chances of admission?

Regards,

Adeno

noone on SDN can tell you your chances of getting in... call the admisisons office and ask for a frank assesment on what you should do (i.e. retake the MCAT, blah blah blah)

Oh yeah, and if I had a dollar for every time I heard a school say they aim to be "Top 10" within X number of years, my tuition would be paid for.
