Hey folks, long time reader, first time poster. I'm currently a senior at UCSD in my last year, graduating this June. I plan on taking a year off from school to hopefully gain experience in the pharmacy setting (retail or hospital, no preference at the moment) as well as gain some extra money to help fund the tuition.
I'm slated to get my B.S. in human biology with a psychology minor. Overall GPA is around a 3.65 (hoping to get to a 3.7 before graduation), the upper-division science GPA is higher, I believe in the 3.7s-3.8s. I have no current experience in a pharmacy, though I'm trying to get a volunteer job or even a clerk position at a local pharmacy. As far as extracurriculars, I have two years under my belt as an executive board member for an on-campus cultural club, as well as heading up committees for numerous events. I currently do research at a lab, and have some TA experience (again I'm hoping to get more before I graduate).
Now that I got that out of the way, I plan on only applying to California schools, and thus will not be taking the PCATs. My top choices are UCSF and UCSD, respectively. Now, realistically, what are my chances of getting into these schools (I mean really getting in, not just being "competitive")? Since I'm applying to so few schools (these potentially being the only two), I guess I'd like to know my realistic chances and be ready for a letdown if one is forthcoming.
Thanks in advance!
