Hey guys, I've noticed we have some people on here with experience at UW, so I thought I'd fish for some advice.

I'm a Wa resident, nontrad. My gpa is 3.8 overall, 4.0 science. My DAT is not as great, 19aa. Low scores were QR17 and PAT18, high scores RC22 and OC21. I only had 40 hours of shadowing at the time I applied (9/7 my app was complete), but I have an ongoing weekly gig. I don't have a ton of volunteering hours, but at 39 I've had plenty of time to contribute in various ways, so I have a lot to talk about in that regard! I also have lots of experience working with my hands (used to be an auto mechanic).

I have an interview Dec. 3rd, my only one so far. I guess I'm thinking this could be my one shot. What do you guys think?

Purely judging from your stats I would say you have a chance of getting in but I still have some questions for you
Where did you take your classes. university vs. community college?
If you took your classes from a community college than adcoms might not look at your gpa the way it is. I've talked to several professors from UWSOD (also on the adcom) and who teaches classes at UWSOD and they didn't think highly of community college science classes.
For community service did you at least write it in the application?
I'm assuming you have some unique personal stories since you're a nontrad student.
Low PAT score is kinda iffy but RC22 and OC21 is definitely a plus. How did you do on bio and gc?
40hrs of shadowing is on the lower end.

Anywho wish you the best
Good luck!

I took gen chem at cc, all my other sciences are from a four year.

I talked about my community service on my app, and I think there was a question about it on the secondary.
I hope having a unique history will count for something there. Do they want people to have done research? I'm doing some this semester, but had not at the time I applied. Oh well, I can talk it up at the interview.
