hello all, I just received my scores from the Canadian DAT and was wondering what my chances are for getting interviews at US dental schools..this would be the third time I will be applying to a few of the schools but my DAT scores have improved...please advise if it is recommended that I do another DAT before reapplying this time. Also please let me know which schools would I have a good chance at, given the scores (im Canadian):

Stats are:
undergrad GPA: ~3.75, grad gpa: ~3.8

Bio: 23
Chm:20
TS: 22
RC: 19
AA: 21
PAT: 21
Carving: 5 🙁

My only concern this time is the carving score but I was wondering if it is recommended that I repeat the DAT because of the carving score...i'm entertaining the idea of doing the US dat for the repeat however...thanks!

I don't know if you're just fishing for compliments based on your GPA or if you're legitimately worried about a section American schools don't even look at. This topic has been discussed too much.

Please don't boost this kid's ego.

im not fishing for any compliments...i was genuinely concerned that because of the very low carving score, i might not receive interviews at all, hence the question regarding whether or not I should retake the DAT and try for the US one this time...

I would really appreciate if someone could give me an idea regarding schools that I have a good chance at...thanks

thanks for the informative links Doc Toothache...i guess to be specific, my question is whether there are any US schools which have a minimum DAT score requirement that applies to/ or could apply to carving? thanks

It takes less than 5 minutes of your time to do a little search on the site and find the answer to your question but since it seems like you are not a big fan of doing the work, I will give you the anwswer:

US Schools DO NOT Care about Carving.

Best of Luck

hey there, slow down with that attitude... i did the search and from the threads out here, found out that some schools may look at the carving score while others dont... hence i m still not certain (as i could not find this anywhere here) which schools have the minimum score requirement for all DAT sections and will therefore look at carving, hence the question...

Maybe you could share the list with the rest of us.

You got the same answer from everyone. What would you like us to tell you?
Your carving score is balls..not gonna lie. Re-take your DAT if you think it matters.
