I just graduated from a state university and have a GPA of 3.1 both overall and science. I have been premed all undergrad but have been recently looking at my options in dentistry. What are my chances of getting accepted to a mid-low tier dental school with a 3.1 and a 22 on DATS and a previous issue of academic dishonesty (plagiarism) if I apply in late June - early July?

I do not think that changing from pre-med to dentistry is a problem at all. If anything, you figured out that you don't want pre-med. After all, that's what the required shadowing hours are for.

My advice, would be to not listen to any of us more than a grain of salt....and email several dental schools that you are NOT planning on applying to (or call), and ask that question about the academic dishonesty. See what they say, and use that to gauge what the schools you want to apply to will say/think about it.

I think your chances are low for admission, based on all of the information you have given. I would put your energies into fixing the problem. It is hard to re-trust a plagiarizer in the eyes of admissions I am sure. Good luck.

Your chance of getting accepted to ds is on par with getting accepted to "mid-low tier" med school.
