I graduated undergrad in 2013 with a horrendous GPA (2.7) due to medical issues and didn't want to take off from school for financial reasons. Senior year I worked really hard and got into a SMP with a MCAT of 35. My grad gpa is ok, 3.71 but it is no 4.0 which is what I was aiming for but the medical school classes I took I got A's in. I have plenty of medical experience (with my job, volunteering and internships). I am currently working at Sloan-Kettering as a medical assistant. I am planning to apply next cycle so 2015 but I wanted some opinions on whether or not I should do post-bacc because of my undergrad or do research to improve my application?

From the SMP programs I have seen, they tend to have a high rate of acceptance and with a 3.7 it shows you can commit to the medical school level of classes. Your MCAT is excellent too, so I would say you have a good chance, since you made up your low GPA from undergrad.

that's tough luck. at the very least, you'll be able to comment on your undergrad GPA in your PS
