Hey all, I'm quite new to this game (and the boards) and wondering if I have a shot at D-school in the states.

GPA breakdown
1 year -2.06
2nd year - 3.82
3rd year - 4.0
4th year - 3.85
5th year - 3.83

Overall ~3.5

I'm Canadian and I've written the cDAT. 23AA, 23TS and 18PAT

I have lots of extracurriculars and some research (2 oral presentations, poster presentations, etc... though medicine related and not dentistry).

Would appreciate any advice/suggestions as to list of schools, etc if possible as I've only recently thought about applying to the states. Do dental schools look at GPA trends at all? Is PAT looked at highly in the states? Would I have a shot at a school like UPenn or UOP?

Thanks everyone in advance!

Trends are the most important thing as long as you show you were consistent. With how you kept up your trend and your DAT's, I'm sure you can get the interviews you want. Just clarifying, these are BCP GPA's and not overall correct?

Canadian scores are viewed a lot more intensely in the States, so for upenn your stats would be a bit low in terms of GPS. But if you believe it's worth the application fee, I think you should apply. There's no knowing for sure whether we get in to xyz schools or not, it's the schools job to make that decision for us. Maybe the rest of your app looks great 🙂 that upward trend definitely helps

ALSO: For everyone reading this we have a chance me thread for these kinds of posts. Please post there 🙂

Your stats look great. The only thing I would recommend would be to try to get more dental specific volunteering/shadowing experience.
