Hello! To make an extremely long story short I am an ex-Physical Therapy student (thus the name). Anyways, I haven't taken the MCAT, but I figured someone could direct me in the right direction or explain what I need to score. Here are my updated stats and info:

cGPA: 3.58
uGPA: 3.62
BCPM GPA: 3.41

URM: Black male
Major: Kinesiology
MCAT: Haven't taken it yet
Upward trend in grades (from a 3.1 cGPA --> 3.58 cGPA)

Clinical volunteering
- PT Aide (2,000 hours) Over half were spent in a hospital

Non-clinical Volunteering
-Ministry event for young teens (2,000 hrs+)
-Underserved "Mission Trip" (80 hrs)
-Ronald McDonald House (6 hrs)
-Special Olympics (10 hrs)
-Get Out and Get Active (400 hrs)
-Fun Runs (12 hrs)

Research
-Microbiology (This semester-Summer semester)

Shadowing
-60 hours (hoping to get around 200-300)

EC's
-Church softball (two years)
-Flag football (one semester)
-Ultimate Frisbee (three years)

LOR's
-I should have strong LOR's from the two Physicians I am shadowing and Professors.

School List
-UNC*
-Duke*
-VCOM-Auburn
-Moorhouse School of Medicine

The schools with * by them are ASTRONOMICAL reaches, but a guy can dream I guess. Anyways, any input or suggestions on a school list would be appreciated. I know having an MCAT is crucial, but I just need to know where I stand. Good or bad...

Also, would it be in my best interest to take a gap year or should I give this upcoming cycle a shot (pending I make a good MCAT score).

On the right track, need to come back with an MCAT score
With a cGPA of around 3.6 and being a black male, almost no MD programs are astronomical reaches.
500+ on the MCAT for good chance of acceptance somewhere, 508+ for top 20

Awesome! I've been worried about what I need to shoot for on my MCAT. I am scheduled for June or July, so I hope that isn't late for the application process.

506 MCAT, 3.8 Science GPA any chance for MD school? traditional student. good EC. no repeat of class.

Every school has its own averages, so it may be a good idea to check on their websites. That is a really good GPA! If she has good clinical experiences and letters of recc, she should be good-make sure that her MCAT matches or is around the school's average MCAT, but just remember that numbers are just one part of the game
