I'm going to apply next cycle and I'm wondering what my chances are.

I will shadow a D.O. after my MCAT. I'm also planning on taking 2 more classes to raise my GPA.

I am planning on applying to all the D.O. schools. I don't have a preference. I just want to be a doctor. What are my chances and what should I do to improve my application?

These features on your application are great. Wish it were that easy to get this, 'cuz I hear it's a terrific experience.

Your MCAT is the only hinderance. Try to get >10 in each area. With your MCAT scores as is, you're more likely looking at going into DO medicine rather than MD. I think it'll be the best thing for you to understand the difference.

Other than that, you're golden.

With my current stats do you think I could get into DO?

even without retaking the MCAT you will get several interviews. but it doesn't hurt to retake if you feel that you can do better. Also you def do not want to apply to all of them, it would be a huge wste of money.you want to narrow your selection down.

Even right now you have a very good shot at many DO schools. Make sure when you shadow the DO you obtain a LOR - a lot of schools require this and even if they don't they recommend it.

Obviously it's always good to try and enhance your application - idk what your deal with the MCAT is (whether or not you studied a lot the first time) - but make sure you really do want to retake it. Obviously you WANT to do better than a 26, even though a 26 is perfectly acceptable for DO, but you just don't want to decrease your score (duh, right? lol). For example, if you feel like you really put your heart and soul into the first MCAT, I'd really make sure you're very very serious about the second one. I know a lot of people who did worse on second MCAT tests after perfectly reasonable scores the first time. Not trying to scare you, just trying to put it into perspective.

ANYWAYS, you've got a very well-rounded app. I agree with the poster above me - you can apply to all the DO schools, but make sure you do your research on them because there's some that really won't even look at you if you don't fit their mission or live within a general region. Apply to a lot and apply broadly, but definitely also apply smart. Good luck 🙂

I have very similar stats and less extracurriculars and got in this cycle

Get a 28+ on the mcat. Your current score isnt going to kill you, but if you're looking to improve your application there ya go. Best of luck with your January retake!

Good luck on your retake. My advice would be to apply MD if you get a 29+ on the MCAT.

And since you still have some time before your retake, I would recommend reading "The Economist", a free website online that writes their articles in a very similar fashion to the MCAT verbal section. It helped me read faster, develop my ability to find the main point faster, and helped me become much more comfortable with that type of writing style.

Good luck 🙂

You have almost IDENTICAL stats as mine. You will be fine! If you want to shoot for better schools, try retaking it and shoot for a 26+. However, w.o the retake, you will be bueno!

Chances are outstanding. Don't change a thing..stick with what you like and with what's working!

Yes. While you're doing the right thing applying widely, it'll be important for you to think about why each school/location is significant when you're getting ready to do secondaries. Because most of them ask.
