I was wondering what my chances in matching in an NYC area program would be like NYU or Mt. Sinai.

I attend a top 30 Med school in the south east, went to undergrad and am from the southeast. I have average preclinical grades (probably class rank around 80-90 out of 150). I have a just below average step 1 score of 218 and did not perform well in my peds clerkship (first clerkship, but didnt fail shelf or clerkship). Still have surgery and ob left, average to above average evals in Medicine. Research in surgery.

Really want to be in NYC, my sister lives there and my fiance got a job there and I love the city. I am planning on doing an away rotation and getting a letter from faculty at an NYC program.

Your help is appreciated!

what are some other decent programs that I would have a better shot at? Even though I would like to be in NYC, it isn't an absolute must and I would rather train at a decent program not in NYC than less desireable program just because it's in NYC. Obviously I can't be too picky but just wondering. Thanks.
