My main reason for posting this is because recently I have discovered that I want to pursue pharmacy for my future however most of my focus from high school has been focused on building a resume for a policy-maker or a lawyer. I want to know if this will effect my admission into various Pharmacy Schools, or various colleges at certain Universities since I plan to major in Biology.

I currently live in Nevada. I am graduating in Spring of 2011 with an International Baccalaureate diploma, the most difficult program in my school.

General Information
White Male/Rising Senior/Nevada Resident
3.8 Weighted, 3.4 Unweighted (Rising Trend from Freshman Year)
Rank: Around 90/800 (Competitive Public School, yearly it ranks in fairly high in the USNews' Best Public Schools)

Schools I am Applying To
- Northeastern University (0-6 Pharmacy Program)
- Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Boston (0-6)
- University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (Preferred Admission to Pharmacy Program)
- University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
- Howard University

UMich is my reach. I do well in all my science classes (A's consistently) but in my math classes I have a C+/B- average. How much will this hurt my application?

Looking for chances, any feedback on things I can do before applications are due to make myself more appealing for the sciences(unlikely), or any schools that you think would suit me (Looking for large urban areas preferably). Thanks in advance!

Seems like your stats are good, and you have a good chance of getting into the East Coast schools. Not sure about the other ones, as I know nothing about them. If UMich is one of those programs where a small percentage are accepted for 6 years, yes, it's a reach.

By the way, did you know that you can get involved in government advocacy as a pharmacy student? When you're in pharmacy school, find your APhA chapter (American Pharmacists Association). They have this thing called SPAN which stands for Student Political Advocacy Network, and you can do all kinds of advocacy. I got to go to DC last year to talk to congressmen's staffers about pharmacists in healthcare reform, and went to our state capitol to push for various pharmacist-friendly state laws to be passed.

Wow! Thats pretty cool, I will definitely check into that, thanks for the advice.
