I am a long time sdn user, but this is my first post. Here is my situation and I am seeking any thoughts on my chances and/or constructive criticism. For my first 3 years as an undergraduate, my gpa was a 3.7 (both science and overall gpa). However, my senior year, I had a 2.9-3.0 for both semesters. I'm a chemistry minor and biology major and I had completed all my requirements by the beginning of my sr year and I just had to fill up my sr year with courses that were required by my school to graduate, but I wouldn't ever need to know that material again. Needless to say, I developed a serious case of senioritis and honestly didn't give a crap about those classes. In addition, the December of my sr year, I got engaged so my mind was also preoccupied more. But because of my performance, I now am trying to make it up. At this point, I am a 3rd time applicant to d-school. My first application failed due to my late application and I only applied to 3-4 schools. At that point I had graduated and I couldn't take any more classes due to financial reasons. My second application failed due to my poor sr stats. I have confirmed this with every school I applied to that year. Frustrated with those responses from those schools, I decided to study for the dat again. While i was studying for the dat, I was also juggling working full time and being an H1 (1st year Husband). But I'm pleased with my results and here are my results for my second attempt.
22 AA 20 (1st time)
23 TS 20 (1st time)
21 OC 20 (1st time
24 BIO 19 (1st time)
26 GC 22 (1st time
21 QR 20 (...
18 RC 20 (...
24 PAT 23 (...

Now I'm finally able to take classes again and Im planning on taking advanced human anatomy and graduate level histology in the fall. What do you think my chances will be this time around if I apply early, 12+ schools? I understand that my gpa is still near the average for those that matriculate but I have a serious downward trend in my gpa. At this point being a 3rd time applicant, I want all the help I can get and would rather not go through this long process a 4th time. Thanks in advance!

Keep your head up, life happens to everyone. The person who succeeds is the person that rises above all obstacle thrown at them. Prioritize your concentration on the upper year courses and redeem yourself. You still have better stats that most people.

Good luck

i don't think you need more classes, but taking them wouldn't hurt

your new dat's improved

use that to convince them that w/e folly that led to your gpa tank was temporary

apply now so it's early

Sounds to me that you are going to have a long reply on the portion where they ask you what you had done since your last attempt to apply. If I were you, I would put a lot of time on that and not talk about your senioritis
