well im pretty p$@#ed bc i got my scores today and they werent quite what i was expecting.
so what are my chances.

i have a 3.7 GPA and currently have a 4.0 this semester.

im involved in plenty of activities and hundreds of community service hours. and have a job as a pharmacy tech at a hospital.
but i got a 57 composite on the pcat in october and thats the only time i have taken it.

ive applied to Mercer, Kentucky, Cincy, Pittsburgh, UIC, Midwestern-Chicago, Samford.
do i have a chance at all, someone please let me hear the truth.

Do you have a bachelors? How many units have you taken to obtain your gpa? How early did you apply/were complete at the schools?

If you've answered, YES, most of it, very early to my questions, then I say you have a decent chance still. The PCAT will hurt you but it's not unheard of for some schools to take people in. They might even interview you and wait for your January PCAT scores before they make a final decisions.

You are a well rounded applicant so I think you still have a shot (assuming the answers to the questions are similar to what I posted). Good luck.

PCAT aside.. everything else seems in place. You should take it again and try to get at least 69%.. I know Mercer will still grant interviews but may ask you to try the Jan PCAT. And.. I know people who went from crappy scores and got in 80%ish... so don't get depressed. You're just going to need to find a way to raise that score.

If you are worried about your PCAT score, why not apply to a couple of schools that don't look at the PCAT? You have a respectable GPA in addition to pharmacy experience so don't let one test stand in your way.

its sad but the truth is most schools will probably not even take a look at everything else unless the see at least a 70 on the pcat. but a few schools that understand that the pcat isn't everything may, but i'm sure they will at least tell u to take it in jan. so i would prepare. i would also consider a prep course, at least half the peolpe with good pcat scores got them by taking a course.

Although having a better PCAT score strengthens your application, you should have a good shot at one school you said that you are applying to: Samford. They only require a 40. I advise you to look into private schools but also you should call them and ask them directly if your PCAT is okay. Be sure to tell them your other selling points.

I never applied to ANY school without speaking to their admissions counselor (not the receptionist that answers the phone) FIRST. One is that applying is a costly venture. Two, although there is much info on a school's website, it does not address circumstances like yours (maybe they don't care about the PCAT as much as you think). But you need to call them rather than asking us.

I have a PCAT score very similar to yours and I got into two schools out of two. But I knew where to apply. I flat out asked schools "How are my chances with this PCAT score, given the other (strong) parts of my application." Some schools are sticklers about getting a high PCAT, others are not. I have a GPA like yours, a degree, and pharmacy experience. Some schools value someone like you more than someone that can excel at standardized tests but is lacking in other departments. Get my drift?

Another thing, everything from PharmCAS is complete, right? Applications are at the schools already?

yep everything is there. both pharmcas and supplemental applications to all schools. i submitted them towards the end of october and the schools recieved them by the 10th of november.
