Hi everyone!
Goodness it’s my first time on here and the first time I have heard about this community. I hope a few of you will take the time to reply to this rather long post!
Ok so I am a senior graduating (2morrow!) with honors. I received a full scholarship to college + stipend money. My first semester of college was off to a rocky start (I had a 3.75 bc I was still trying to go for MD). Life happened and the next three semesters my GPA tanked like crazy due to severe family problems and emotional stress caused by some other things. 3.33 cGPA for 2 of them, and I think the lowest was a 2.9 cGPA. I managed to pull myself together and started climbing up. 3.55 the next sem, and then back to 3.75-3.79 GPA the last two years. This past semester I believe I have made a 3.85. My sGPA is poor due to me retaking a few classes. Community service wise I have quite a few leadership positions and volunteer hours. I got 1 service award from a hospital and am graduating with service honors. I looked towards community service these years to cope with what I went through, and it also aided me on rediscovering that I really truly wanted to become a doctor, as well as falling in love with the osteopathic philosophy. I tried my best to reflect all this in my personal statement. Shadowing wise I have 80 hours under a DO. I have also done research for 3-4 semesters. What is stressing me out is the MCAT. Right now I’m not doing so well. I was supposed to take it in May. After taking AAMC 2 yesterday I was quite bummed out at my score. I moved it to June. I have all the other parts of my application ready to go. But I’m worried that if I send my scores in at June end I might not get any interviews at DO schools. Right now all my focus is going to the MCAT, and I am going to battle this exam in a different way then I have been. It’s strategy change time and hopefully it’ll come in clutch. But can anyone offer some advice knowing some parts of my application? Do I even have a chance? Is June honestly late? Any stagnant MCAT score advice? I feel like I’m behind everyone I know who is going MD. Or frankly anyone for that matter
Thank you for the support and your time!
